Suicide

Someone I once knew committed suicide and I had a lot of questions after that, so I decided to do a research on what suicide is and what causes it. In my research I discovered that according to the World Health Organization more than twice as many men die due to suicide than women. Suicide rates among men are generally higher in high-income countries and for female in lower-middle-income countries. The cases are usually higher among people between the ages of 12 years to 40 years.

What is suicide? It is the act of intentionally causing one’s death. This is usually triggered by mental health issues, physical disorders and substance abuse. Some suicides are impulsive acts due to stress, relationship problems or harassment and bullying. Those who have previously attempted suicide are at a higher risk for future attempts.

Limiting access to methods of suicide such as drugs and poison, talking to someone and seeking professional help have proven to be effective ways of suicide prevention if you feel or suspect you might be suicidal. Suicidal thoughts usually come in a dominative way, so acting on them as soon as possible is the best way to deal with it. Also, sharing on suicide and being nice (being there for someone and assisting in times of need) could be your contribution in saving a life. You can also tell if one is suicidal by noticing changes in their behavior and habits.

So according to me #StewieLeSavage before considering suicide as an option, think of all the opportunities you’re going to miss out on, all the people you’re going to hurt and lastly, ask yourself if it’s worth it. Don’t be a victim!!!
